Making A 4x4 Post Look Better.

We had an old beat up and stained treated 4x4 post in the yard that really had no reason to be there. It used to have a purpose that changed when the yard and landscape changed, which left it and eyesore so to speak and without a reason to be. Rather than remove it we decided it was best to dress it up and give it a new purpose...

"You can change the overall look or change the function but in this case we needed to change both..."

By adding some left over 1x6 cedar pickets to the sides, a cap and hose real we have a new look and place to put a hose that kept getting run over. Two sides were ripped down to 3.5" on the table saw and the two other boards that make up the sides were just trimmed a bit. The top was beveled. We received a 100' hose in the mail as a gift that replaced the hose that kept getting run over. You can see the 100' hose is a little tense after a long trip through the mail.

Below the hose is a fern that got moved from a location where it was getting way to much sun because of the untimely death of a hydrangea. Once moved, the fern let every leaf turn brown and put out a whole new set in what could have been a show of appreciation. The deer caught on and ate quite a few of the fiddle heads...
