"Imagine pitchforking down two and one half feet deep into an old compost pile and finding three organic store bought broccoli stems that were growing roots. "
Buried deep under heavy sod, dirt and old weeds we found three old broccoli stems. Most of the plants around them had composted down to an unrecognizable state of brown. What stood out was bright green with a circle of white roots coming out. The roots were coming out of the bottom of each of the large stems along the green outer skin. We decided to plant them and see what happens. The image is of them fresh out of their compost grave and just planted. Thinking back, we remembered that they got moldy in the fridge and we composted them.
