Forests, for all the kids I have ever known, means animals, plants and trees. It NEVER means hunting. In fact, that would be unthinkable. The worst, totally wrong in every way. But the animals, well, they are loved. Click the image for a much larger version.
With a really LARGE roll of paper, I invited a 10 year old to draw BIG, anything she wanted to draw. She picked SAFARI the first round and we picked FOREST the second round. On both occasions I added in the stipulation that we all had to think up what animals lived in our area. No cheating. You can not look the animals up, this is about memory for both adults and kids so we have to think up what animals live here. When that memory is totally exhausted, then and only then, can we look animals up. We finally did look some up, but only added a few animals from that search effort.
"I keep thinking of the jungle and I have to think of the forest instead!"
We found paper at the local THE Siuslaw News Paper in the form of the end rolls and, my, they were affordable which is fun! This roll was 24" tall and really long. Can you name all the animals?
