FFollowing an extensive search and investigation related to Sunday morning's assault with a shotgun against two people at a residence south of Florence, the suspect is now in custody at Lane County Jail pending an appearance in Lane County Circuit Court.

Oregon State Police (OSP) Detective Dusty Sprague confirmed VICTOR GLEN CARON, age 46, turned himself in Tuesday morning, June 15, 2010 at the Lane County Sheriff's Office Veneta substation. He was accompanied by a friend and walked into the Veneta City Hall where he contacted Lane County deputies who in turn notified OSP. Detective Sprague responded and subsequently transported CARON to the Lane County Jail where he is currently lodged on two counts of Assault in the First Degree. Other charge(s) possible.

CARON as the lone suspect sought in connection with an alleged assault of ROXANNA MERCHANT, age 27, and JASON EMERSON, age 26, from Florence. On June 13, 2010 at approximately 1:00 a.m. the two victims and a 4-year old boy were visiting a residence in the 84000 block of Green Gate Road, south of Florence near Honeyman State Park where CARON shares a home with a 40-year old woman. An argument occurred during which CARON allegedly shot MERCHANT in the stomach with a shotgun and then struck EMERSON in the head with the weapon.

EMERSON was treated and released. MERCHANT remains in Sacred Hearth Medical Center at RiverBend for treatment of serious injuries.
