Weyerhaeuser massive spraying near fish and domestic streams

This will be published in Eugene  Weekly on Thursday, but wanted to give you heads up!  21,000 acres of spraying just for roads and roadsides within 10 feet of fish streams and people’s domestic(and irrigation) water supply streams all over Lane County and parts of Douglas just in these two notifications.  Probably happening all over Weyco’s holdings statewide!!!

    Hazardous To Environment

    Lane Area Spray Schedule

    • Weyerhaeuser Company (746-2511) will spray 300 miles of forestry roads and roadsides in Western Lane and Douglas Counties from Gillespie Corners to Drain, and 400 miles in Eastern Lane County forestry districts with six herbicides plus surfactants as close as within 10 feet of domestic water supply streams and fish streams starting June 29th (Notice No. 781-50322 Western and 771-55409 Eastern Lane).
    • Gypsy Moth Spraying (SE Eugene): For assistance with Report of Loss contact Lisa Warnes, VP of the SE Neighbors Association, at 484-2210.

  • Email Blogging Subject Is Required And Will Show Up In Blog As The Title

Posted on June 5th, 2009 VitalBodies 1 comment

Bold Will Show Up In The Blog as Bold:
Each post will most likely have text. Do not use tables or anything fancy, keep the post simple for a consistent look through out the blog. The main reason to keep it simple is so that the post works in any template or theme that we use for the blog.

Images: Images will show up in blog right were you placed them in the email. Images that appear within the blog should be no wider than 475 px so that they can work with most templates and not mess up the blog. Images can link to a bigger image though.  Do not place images at the bottom of the post as they tend to conflict with the post below.

Notes: Do not include email signatures or other email stuff like headers or replies or forwards or attachments as it just clutters your post and the blog as a whole.

Timeless: Remember, this is a blog post and should be written with that in mind and not just an email. Thus state the basics that you might know, but the reader might not. Using phrases like “today” (today when?) or “new” (new when?) or “here” (where is here?) do not really convey the whole story to the reader. “We need” (who is we?) should be “Food Share of Newport Oregon needs” etc.

  • Real Food Coop – Needs Store Assistants

Posted on May 18th, 2009 VitalBodies No comments

Twenty-Six, In-Store-Assistants are the present “catch of the day” at Maple and Rhody.  Would you enjoy being one of them?

    real_foods_coop_logo

Our May calendar is filled with cashiers who are keeping the till ringing.  But, Cashiers need help from one or two people per day to perform  general daily duties depending on the day’s needs.    For example, when products get purchased…  extra products in storage need to be added to the bulk containers… such as coffee beans.  Spills need to be cleaned up. etc.

It’s so easy to get in on the fun of community.    Just stop in and ask “How Can I Help?”    Encourage your partner and friends to do the same.

The store’s new phone number is 997-3396.  Ask to be put on the calendar if you want an exact time or if you want to be in the store when a certain cashier is working.

If evenings are the only time you have to give 3-4 hours a month,  call Jenn on Tuesdays or Thursdays at the store;  call a cashier and leave a message;  or email me kdd@oregonfast.net and I’ll pass the message on for that potential.  The store is already open until 8pm on Tuesdays, when Oceana Delivery truck arrives with food.

The following crews are posted on a green sheet on the Community Board at our store, for further information.

    Our Store Crews:
    Cashier
    In-Store-Assistant
    Pricing/Stocking
    Produce Crew
    Cleaning/Janitorial

    Earth Crew:
    Safety and Maintenance
    Eugene Crew
    Products Research Crew
    Communication Crew
    Donations and Things

    Keep Real Food Co-op sustainable…..

    Thank you to everyone!

Spray Report – Shoulder Spraying Finished

Got word from Jodie that ODOT is done with the shoulder spraying for the year in this district.  They finished Hwys18/22, 180, and 20 east of Sweet Home Tuesday night.

    no_spray_button_round_100x100

The bridge and “landscape” crews will continue backpack spraying next week.  Monday and Wednesday they’ll be on Hwy 101 at mileposts 123 and 95, and around bridges on Hwys 101 and 18.

In July and August they’ll do their “noxious weed” spraying (mainly blackberries and scotch broom, I think) and will call before they start.

Please note also that Lincoln County starts around July spraying certain county roads for “noxious weeds” (mainly blackberries and horsetail).  They will post before and after they do it.

“Please join in the fun Sunday.  Come to the new store about noon to help with putting away, cleaning, and anything that needs to be done.   The old Store needs to be cleaned and  the wall repaired where we removed shelving.  ( spackle, etc.)  (You will first need to get an “old-store key” at the new store.)   The old yellow freezer at the old store needs cleaning and then needs to be taken to St. Vinnies this next week.  (We have a very nice new freezer at the new store thanks to a member and local church.)   We intend to be open for business Monday at noon.  We accomplished a tremendous amount today.  Thank you to everyone who came to help”     Jenn Nelson, General Manager Real Food Co-op 1379 B.
